What is Happiness?
This is a question that has not bothered me for a long time, precisely because I don’t know how to answer it.
Some people seem to be happy: they just do not think about it. Others make plans: “I’m going to have a wife, a home, two children, and a house in the country”. While this keeps them occupied, they are like bulls looking for the bullfighter: they don’t think, they just keep moving forward. They manage to get their car – sometimes even a Ferrari – and they think that the meaning of life lies there, so they never ask the question. Yet, despite all that, their eyes betray a sadness that they themselves are quite unaware of.
I don’t know if everyone is unhappy. I do know that people are always busy: working overtime, looking after the kids, the wife, the career, the university degree, what to do tomorrow, what they need to buy, whatever it is they need to have in order not to feel inferior, and so on.
Few people have ever told me: “I’m unhappy”. Most say: “I’m fine, I’ve managed to get all I ever wanted”.
So then I ask: “What makes you happy?”
They answer: “I have everything that a person can dream of – a family, a home, work, good health”.
I insist: “So the meaning of life is work, the family, children who grow up and leave you, a wife or husband who will become more like a friend than a true love-mate. And one day the work will come to an end. What will you do when that happens?”
They answer: there is no answer. They change the subject.

The theory of Kashmiris
The theory of Kashmiri descent from the lost tribes of Israel posits that the Kashmiri people of India and Pakistan originally descended from the Ten Lost Tribes.
The theory was first suggested by Abu Rayan al-Bīrūnī , the famous 11th-century Persian Muslim scholar. François Bernier , a 17th-century French physician and traveler, and Sir Walter Lawrence and Sir Francis Younghusband , who explored this
region in the 1800s, commented on the similar physiognomy between Kashmiris and Jews, including “fair skin, prominent noses,” and similar head shapes.
Kaw argues that despite the etymological similarities between Kashmiri and Jewish surnames, the Kashmiri people are of Indo-Aryan descent while the Jews are of Semitic descent . Moreover, the Indian civilization pre-season dates the Israelite civilization.
The theory is essentially based on the purported similarities between Kashmir place names and Hebrew words and phrases. The name Kashmir locally know as kasher itself is said to be based
on the Hebrew word Kashir "like Syria". The Kashmir valley, said to be the dwelling place of the Ten Lost Tribes, is called Bagh- i_Suleman (Garden of Solomon ) in local parlance. The connection between Kashmir and ancient Israel is strengthened further by such Kashmiri place names as "Tomb of Moses " and "Throne of Solomon". There is also a Kashmiri tradition that the 40 years of wandering in the desert actually covered the ground from Asia to Kashmir, and that Kashmir is in fact the Promised Land.
The names of approximately 350 towns and villages in Kashmir bear some resemblance to place names in the Holy Land . These include:
Bandpoor (similar to Beth Peor)
Naboo Hill (similar to Mount Nebo )
Pishgah (similar to Mount Pisgah)
Mamre (similar to Mamre)
Pathan tribal names that are said to resemble the names of the lost tribes include: Rabbinic (Reuben), Shinwari (Shimon), Daftani (Naphtali), Jajani (Gad), Ashuri (Asher), Alfridi (Ephraim),
and Yusufzai (sons of Joseph – i.e., Mansel and Ephraim).

LIFE
When you sit and think,
Your life is stupid,
You’ll never do anything,
No matter how good you did,
Or sit and feel sorry for yourself,
And don’t take things like they are,
Just because you didn’t,
Become a movie star.
You need to realize,
All that’s wanted is love,
And you get that from everywhere,
Including from god above,
And now that I think about it,
That’s the reason we live,
The true meaning of life,
And the way to prove it is,
What do you want to be,
Are you sure that’s true?
And do you end up rich and famous,
And people love you.
Would you like another example,
Or do you have this down,
Ok what do you want to happen now,
For people to want you around?
Now correct me if I’m wrong,
But that’s two good reasons, right,
And if that wasn’t enough,
I can go all night.
Here’s another example,
Let’s say a boy is three,
His family was killed in an accident,
Unfortunate isn’t he?
But then another family,
Open their doors,
For what reason you may ask,
To give him love.
Most people,
Respect love, not as it comes,
But only if it has a price on it,
Like money, clothes, and gum,
So to love is to live,
And life is a gift,
So you should,
Choose life and live.
So no mater what your going through,
Someone’s there too,
They’ll comfort and love you,
And live, just like you.

Found
I know I’m smiling but don’t take it as for what it seems
'Cause the only time I'm happy is when I'm in my dreams
'Cause my life is that lonely kid cast out in the shadows
Full of tears, frowns, and many lost battles
Down in a black hole trying to escape depression
But you can't run away from what will always be your reflection
And as you run away reality is getting nearer
And instead of changing you, you try to change the mirror
But what do you do when the mirror falls down?
Breaking apart as it hits the ground
And now you have nothing to hide behind
And now you need the courage you have yet to find
Because fear and sorrow are just emotions that play tricks on your mind
Trying to prevent you from making your life and dreams intertwine
But instead of giving in you try to break out
Rebuilding the happiness that fear and sorrow take out
Because the obstacles you have aren't important it's about how you handle it
Because fear can only be as bad as you imagine it
And sorrow comes with tears just as gray clouds come with rain
And then it will pass quicker than it came
So just be proud you didn't cut yourself with the mirror's glass
And just know that the worst already passed
But if you look in a mirror again, look with open eyes
So if you don't like the out, you can take a look inside.

Dark Side of Human Nature
We all see what we've lost,
and eventually open our eyes to the little we've gained,
has happiness become a forbidden fruit,
or is our true goal to keep sorrow sustained,
every smile simply a ruse,
your eyes dart down after everything you say,
sadly people in life are cruel, and will only attempt to confuse,
drag you away from solace in subtle ways,
treat your body like an old jacket,
just something to be worn when needed,
act as if your beautiful thoughts are merely an annoying racket,
a noise of no importance, a voice worthy of being mistreated,
they act as if they know not the effect of their actions,
they ignore the miserable look on your face,
approaching as if its okay, as if their insults are refundable transactions,
knowingly attempting to label you as a disgrace,
your tears are the sick payment they wish to receive,
accepted behind the false pretense of friendship and trust,
torn between lies, you know not how this life you should perceive,
a majestic gemstone you are, one who people wish to rust,
jealousy and envy compose the roots of this tree,
a forbidden fruit everyone eats, but also one they deny to be.

CURFEW
My dear curfew,
Hi ! Where had you been allthese weeks. You left
us
in the month of February and
since then you did
not show up. It is good to see
you again. Butplease
tell me, was it necessary to
have people
massacred
for your return. Was it
necessary to have an
innocent hanged for your
imposition. You could
have come without all this. No
one in the world
could dare to ask why you
came. India wears a
beautiful mask of democracy. No
one would
question your guardian, India,
for your uninvited
entry into # Kashmir. Please,
next time when you
feel nostalgic about Kashmir, do
not hesitate to
come. But please let people live.
Do not have
people killed for your entry.
Hope you will
understand and keep your
weapon AFSPA down.
Thank you,
Yours slavely, Awaam e Kashmir

HUMANS
So, what are human beings? Why does God care about them? They are in some ways like God himself, yet inferior, yet crowned by God himself with honor and glory. Humans are a paradox, a mystery—tainted with evil, and yet believing that they should behave morally. So corrupt in power, but yet having power over other living things. So far below God, and yet called honorable by God himself.
What are human beings? Scientists call us Homo sapiens, a member of the animal kingdom. Scripture calls us nephesh, a word that is also used for animals. We have spirit in us, just as animals have spirit in them. We are dust, and when we die, we return to the dust, just as animals do. Our anatomy and our physiology is like that of an animal.
But Scripture says that we are much more than animals. There is a spiritual aspect to human beings—and science cannot tell us about this spiritual part of life. Nor can philosophy; we cannot come up with reliable answers just by thinking about it. No, this part of our existence must be explained by revelation. Our Creator needs to tell us who we are, what we are supposed to do, and why he cares. We find answers in Scripture.
Genesis 1 tells us that God created all things: light and darkness, land and sea, sun and moon and stars. Pagans worshipped these things as gods, but the true God is so powerful that he can call them into existence just by speaking a word. They are totally under his control. Whether he did it in one day, six days, or six billion years is not nearly as important as the fact that he did it. He said it, it was done, and it was good.
As part of all creation, God also created humans, and Genesis tells us that we were created on the same day as the animals. The symbolism of this seems to say that we are in some respects like the animals. That much we can see for ourselves.

Body-Soul Conflict.........SPIRITUALITY
The idea which has influenced most the climate of philosophical and religious thought is that body and soul are mutually antagonistic, and can develop only at each other’s expense. For the soul, the body is a prison and the activities of daily life are the shackles which keep it in bondage and arrest its growth. This has inevitably led to the universe being divided into the spiritual and the secular.
Those who chose the secular path were convinced that they could not meet the demands of spirituality, and thus they led highly material and hedonistic lives. All spheres of worldly activity, whether social, political, economic or cultural, were deprived of the light of spirituality; injustice and tyranny were the result.
Conversely, those who wanted to tread the path of spiritual excellence came to see themselves as ‘noble outcasts’ from the world. They believed that it was impossible for spiritual growth to be compatible with a ‘normal’ life. In their view physical self-denial and mortification of the flesh were necessary for the development and perfection of the spirit. They invented spiritual exercises and ascetic practices which killed physical desires and dulled the body’s senses. They regarded forests, mountains and other solitary places as ideal for spiritual development because the hustle and bustle of life would interfere with their meditations. They could not conceive of spiritual development except through withdrawal from the world.
This conflict of body and soul resulted in the evolution of two different ideals for the perfection of man. One was that man should be surrounded by all possible material comforts and regards himself as nothing but an animal. Men learnt to fly like birds, swim like fish, run like horses and even terrorize and destroy like wolves but they did not learn how to live like noble human beings. The other was that the senses should be not only subdued and conquered but extra-sensory powers awakened and the limitations of the sensory world done away with. With these new conquests men would be able to hear distant voices like powerful wireless sets, see remote objects as one does with a telescope, and develop powers through which the mere touch of their hand or a passing glance would heal the un-healable.
The Islamic viewpoint differs radically from these approaches. According to Islam, God has appointed the human soul as His Khalifah (vicegerent) in this world. He has invested it with a certain authority, and given it certain responsibilities and obligations for the fulfillment of which He has endowed it with the best and most suitable physical frame. The body has been created with the sole object of allowing the soul to use it in the exercise of its authority and the fulfillment of its duties and responsibilities. The body is not a prison for the soul, but its workshop or factory; and if the soul is to grow and develop, it is only through this workshop. Consequently, this world is not a place of punishment in which the human soul unfortunately finds itself, but a field in which God has sent it to work and do its duty towards Him.
Therefore spiritual development should not take the form of a man turning away from this workshop and retreating into a corner. Rather, man should live and work in it, and give the best account of himself that he can. It is in the nature of an examination for him; every aspect and sphere of life is, as it were, a question paper: the home, the family, the neighborhood, the society, the market-place, the office, the factory, the school, the law courts, the police station, the parliament, the peace conference and the battlefield, all represent question papers which man has been called upon to answer. If he leaves most of the answer-book blank, he is bound to fail the examination. Success and development are only possible if man devotes his whole life to this examination and attempts to answer all the question papers he can.
Islam rejects and condemns the ascetic view of life, and proposes a set of methods and processes for the spiritual development of man, not outside this world but inside it. The real place for the growth of the spirit is in the midst of life and not in solitary places of spiritual hibernation.

This poem is not about you.
I was at the gate.
The view was spectacular.
“I can see it!” I said.“Can you see it?
” I said.You said,
“You read too much into things.”
I was at the gate.
My legs ached for that field.
“Let’s run!”
I said.You said,
“But we just got here.”
I limped to the pool of my longing.
I looked in and said,
“My left eye is dim.
My right foot is lame.
Look at me now.”
And She said to me,
“Believe what you see … and run.” SUHAIL JAN

REGRET
I am the one who wished to have everything
but the god is not so kind
he has been so atrocious to me and has given me no reason to shine
i wish i could show you how i am
but you won't believe it like you do every time
then you will understand that i was someone
who loved you more than any one
you will then cry for what you have done
but to listen there will be no one
then you will come on my grave with regret and shame
then you will realise who was i
and will cry for my name.....

"A TOUCHING STORY THAT WILL MAKE YOU CRY''
Well i am not the writer of this story but i wrote this poem.Once i came through this story and i was deeply touched,i felt like this was going to happen with me,, i just felt like reshaping it into a poem so here it is
"A touching love story that i'll make u cry" Written by a BOY in his diary
"10th Grade:-
... ...
As I sat there in English class,
I stared at the girl next to me.
She was my so called 'best friend'.
I stared at her long, silky hair,
and wished she was mine.
But she didn't notice me like that,
and I knew it.
After class,
she walked up to me and asked me for
the notes she had missed the day before.
I handed them to her.She said 'thanks'
and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her, I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.
11th grade:-
The phone rang. On the other end,
it was her. She was in tears,
mumbling on and on about how
her love had broke her heart.
She asked me to come over
because she didn't want to be alone, So I did.
As I sat next to her on the sofa, I stared at her
soft eyes, wishing she was mine.
After 2 hours, one Drew Barrymore movie,
and three bags of chips,
she decided to go home.
She looked at me, said 'thanks'
and gave me a kiss
on the cheek..I want to tell her,
I want her to know that
I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.
Senior year:-
One fine day she walked to my locker.
"My date is sick" she said,
"hes not gonna go" well,
I didn't have a date, and in 7th grade,
we made a promise that
if neither of us had dates,
we would go together just as 'best friends'.
So we did.
That night, after everything was over,
I was standing at her front door step.
I stared at her as She smiled at me
and stared at me with her crystal eyes.
Then she said- "I had the best time, thanks!"
and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.
Graduation:-
A day passed, then a week, then a month.
Before I could blink, it was graduation day.
I watched as her perfect body
floated like an angel
up on stage to get her diploma.
I wanted her to be mine-but
she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it.
Before everyone went home,
she came to me in her smock and hat,
and cried as I hugged her.
Then she lifted her head from my shoulder
and said- 'you're my best friend,
thanks' and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.
Marriage:-
Now I sit in the pews of the church.
That girl is getting married now.
and drive off to her new life,
married to another man.
I wanted her to be mine,
but she didn't see me like that,
and I knew it.
But before she drove away,
she came to me and said 'you came !'.
She said 'thanks' and kissed me on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
that I don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.
Death:-
Years passed, I looked down at the coffin
of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'.
At the service, they read a diary entry
she had wrote in her high school years.
This is what it read:
*I stare at him wishing he was mine,
but he doesn't notice me like that,
and I know it.
I want to tell him,
I want him to know that
I don't want to be just friends,
I love him but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.
I wish he would tell me he loved me !
.........'I wish I did too...'*
I thought to my self, and I cried."
ONLY FOR YOU
I Wrote This For You
Today I feel... Lonely?
I think.
Drops of rain
hit the windshield of my parked car.
Tall groomed, green, and golden grass
line the parking lot.
Rain is coming in
through my windows.
But
I don’t wanna roll them up.
Let them come.
Let the drops hit
or miss
A feeling of being trapped
chained in a cave.
Watching shadows dance on the wall.
I'm thinking of you now.
Yes, You.
The people I will read this too.
I wonder why I feel the need
to share this moment
with so many strangers.
Could it be that feeling?
What did I call it again?
Was it loneliness?
Doesn’t make any sense
cuz I've felt that before
and it was never as calm as this.
Perhaps it's a feeling subdued.
One that is being repressed.
Today I feel...
Today I feel...
Nothing I guess.
Or maybe that I'm dreaming.
Perhaps it's boredom I feel
and a longing for things to be curiouser.
Nelly Fertado pops into my head.
That song,
“I'm like a bird, I'll only fly away”
I guess I am.
Though most peg me for a cat.
Perhaps due to the grin.
Yup.
Boredom.
That must be it......................SUHAIL

I AM FALLING APART
You stole my heart
and tore it in two
Now i'm falling apart
and have no idea, what to do
I tried so hard
i tried my best

I gave you my everything
now there's nothing left
I'm living in the present
my mind lives in the past
Wondering what i'll lose
wondering what i'll last
Divided by decisions
burning in the fire
Confused by your words
tempted by desires
Blinding by my fear
drowning in my doubt
Struggling to be free
always looking for a way out....... SUHAIL

TO ESCAPE
You left me waiting for you in the dark
The coldness of night had torn us apart
As i looked down the road i know the end was here
The love i had somehow disappeared
How lonely i was left in despair
Teardrops of regret fall from my face
Only how i wish i could of escape
It's too late to turn back now
Our love was once like a candle burning so deep
Now it's over and the beauty has escaped
The memories that are locked will remain in my heart
The once, precious things has fallen apart
And deep inside i'll never let you go
You give me the world, you made me have faith
Now i am all alone just trying to escape........SUHAIL

PASS WITHOUT YOU
I started to pass without youthat's what i wanna say
but that's not true
I need you,i need you
the thing you wrote
which was a little note
has proven to be true
I can't still believe,that
the days have passed
now you are not with me
you are far apart
I still think of you
and want you to be with me
so the note proves wrong
and we may not get separated for long....... SUHAIL
